HORNBY OCEAN KAYAKS is located on Hornby Island, which is one of the most spectacular and protected northern Gulf Islands on the west coast of Canada. Hornby Island is situated in the calm protected waters of Georgia Strait between the mainland and Vancouver Island, an excellent place to experience Ocean Kayaking! Depending on the time of year, you will see eagles, seals, sea lions, whales, interesting intertidal life and diverse bird species. Let us share our love of Ocean Kayaking with you.
We have been introducing people to ocean kayaking since 1986, and have been involved as professional wilderness guides since 1976. Our customers return from paddling relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated. The ocean air, the beautiful scenery,the wild life, the satisfaction of using your own power to move through the water; all contribute to a memorable experience. We would be happy to share our knowledge of Hornby Island. We paddle year round and encourage you to try ocean kayaking with us at any time of the year.
KAYAK TOURS
Hornby Ocean Kayaks specializes in safely introducing people to the sport of ocean kayaking. All tours include a ‘dry land’ orientation covering the basic skills of ocean kayaking. (Note: You do not have to ‘roll’ or wet exit for our tours.)
KAYAK RENTALS
Hornby Ocean Kayaks offers a selection of both single and double kayaks to those individuals with kayaking experience. Please contact us for our current rates at 250-335-0448.
Our Kayak Rental includes paddle, spare paddle, PFD, spraydeck, bailer, paddle float, rope bag and a drysack for your personal items.
Reservations can be made by phone and require a deposit by VISA to confirm the booking. A signed imprint of a valid VISA is also required as a Security Deposit. Renters are responsible for costs due to lost or damaged equipment. All renters are required to be proficient in performing self and assisted rescues. Rescue courses can be arranged ahead of time.
