Kaetlyn has a blog!
The other day I realized the domain kaetlynbew.com was available and decided to set it up. With a couple of hours work, Kaetlyn has a website all her own!

With WordPress as the platform, it’s a straightforward blogging system that she can do anything with. Blog posts, photos, resumés, whatever. So far it’s pretty small, but we’ll see it get more interesting as time goes on…

Check it out.

Spring!

The rain has finally stopped! It’s looking like good weather for the Bonfire/BBQ today. I have the tiger torch standing by…

It’s been an eventful couple of weeks. My dad and I got back from our drive over the mountains in good time, and intact. The roads the whole way were clear, except for a bit of rain between Merritt and Hope. It was trying to become snow for a while, but never made it. Thankfully.

On the way from Canmore we stopped in Salmon Arm and took my cousin Kirsten and hubby Chris out for lunch at this wicked brewpub called The Barley Station. If you are passing through around mealtime, you have to stop there. They do a very tasty selection of beers there; their nut brown is one of the best I’ve tasted anywhere. Kirsten, Chris and Coen are doing well. Coen is turning in to a little ripper on his run bike. I’ll be setting him up with the bikes he needs as he grows.

The biggest change in my life right now is Kim and I are no longer together. Kim is a wonderful woman, and in many ways exactly what I need. Unfortunately the long distance relationship isn’t going to work for the long term. I still consider her a friend and wish her the best. I think this will be a summer where all my attention and energy will be focused on the bike shop. Make it a really successful summer and get out of the debt cycle.

In happier news, Kaetlyn is coming out to Hornby again this summer! So excited! She will only have a month here because she has lots to do to prepare for Uni in the fall. Kaet is likely going to York University for the Theatre program.

Kaetlyn is growing up!

My amazing daughter is 18. Holy crap! Where did the years go? Now Kaetlyn is a strong young woman on the verge of university and stepping in to an adventure of her own. Good luck, my girl! Love always.
Happy Birthday, Kaet!

In other ventures, I’m driving with my Dad to Lethbridge to help him set up a show there. A couple days driving over the mountains, set up a show, do a talk, pack up and drive home. We should be back in a couple weeks. I’m super stoked to visit some of his childhood haunts near Enderby on the return leg.

Holiday Blessings to All

In this season of snow and cold, when staying warm and spending time with close friends and family is most important, I contemplate the many many wonderful things I am grateful for:

Being a part of Kaet’s life and getting the opportunity to see her grow into a smart and beautiful young woman fills my heart. I am so thankful I have been given this gift of her and look forward to seeing her grow and develop in the coming years.

I am ever thankful for a place among good friends who share the adventure and whom I learn from at every turn. The things we’ve done and experienced together have made me who I am today, and for that I thank you.

My family is a source of inspiration and knowledge for which my gratitude is immense. Thank you for all you are and all you have done.

Having a successful business friendship with Irah makes me grateful beyond words, and I really appreciate the learning we have done over the years of working together. I am grateful for the amazing things we have created together, and the joy we share over the same things.

I have gratitude for this body and mind I inhabit, and the opportunies they provide for continueing this adventure called life.

Thank you all so much!

Visiting Kaet

Very nice visit!
Kaetlyn met me at Pearson Airport when my plane got in at 0700. Thanks to Rick and Judy.
She’s growing in to a fine young woman. I consider myself lucky to be getting to know her.
Even though I’d been running on 4 hours sleep in 48 hours I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. First Rick and Judy took us out for breakfast, then they dropped us off at Kaet’s house.
Tammy looks great these days, healthy and strong. She always seems more settled when she’s working in business.
Tammy’s boyfriend Shaun came over and we all went put for sushi. Yum!
Shaun is a nice guy and is making Tammy happy. Good for her.
After lunch Kaet and I headed downtown while Shaun and Tammy headed out to his place for a couple days.
First stop was the Apple Store, of course, where I didn’t buy anything. Weird, I know. Just couldn’t justify it. What’s wrong with me?
Anyhoo, we wandered down Yonge Street for a bit, browsing. The Umbra store was a highlight as was the bookstore. Kaet picked up a couple of feminist books. You go, girl! Great to see her expanding her horizons. I even got a book on philosophy. Got try and keep up with Gor in our conversations.
Supper was had at this nice little Jamaican place. More yum!!

The next day was a lazy Sunday. Got up late, went for a bagel and a walk. Bought Kaet a movie and we went home and watched it. Very relaxing. For supper we went over to Richard and Judy’s. I caught up with Kaet’s aunts, uncles and cousin. Alex has become an avid mountain biker. I believe he iseven competing. Good luck! He’s super stoked on riding the Wet Coast, especially Whistler. I’m looking forward to that visit!

Monday Kaet was off to school, and I had the place to myself. Good opportunity to relax. When she got home we got in to a game of Monopoly : Lord of the Rings Edition. I thought I was doing well for a while. We stopped for dinner when Tammy got home. Kamasutra was the East Indian restaurant they recommended and it was really good. Better than a lot of places in Vancouver. Even more yum! When we got home Kaet proceeded to kick my butt as we continued our Monopoly game. That girl is good! Though you do realize, this means war! A rematch will happen.

The next morning I said my goodbyes as Tammy and then Kaet left. I was sad to leave, and happy to get to spend time together. All in all a great trip!
