Jer’s Continuing Adventures…

Ain’t life a trip?

Happy Holidaze!

This is the time of year to slow down, and appreciate the company of friends and loved ones. Snow or Sun it’s a beautiful time.

Enjoy some good food, good friends and good times.

Peace and Love, all y’all!

More snow

Here comes the white stuff! It started around 1100 and doesn’t look to be letting up anytime soon. This will make working a bit more of a challenge.

This morning Ray drove me up to the top of the dike. The dike is a massive, man-made sandpile with a lake on top. The lake is five miles across and is fed by pipes from the plant. The road around the top is very wide and constantly changing. From the top I could see the whole Albian site (see the photos). I could also see Syncrude’s Aurora site as well as Albian’s Jackpine development. What a massive project!

I ended up back on the A-team! Since Ray and Brock were in a propane course I was back with the Newfies. Steve, Richard and Todd were stoked to be working with me again, though there was the usual ribbing and jokes. Good guys to work with.

Another day done. Twelve to go before I get to see Kaet!

Slow, snow bus

Slow bus to work yesterday. The snow had come in the night and hidden everything under a blanket of white. Combined with a greenhorn bus driver, the ride to work took two hours. I got a good long nap…

White morning

Apparently it snows up here.
Got up this morning to snow on the ground. Just a light dusting, like powdered sugar on a coffee cake. A sign of things to come. This weekend on my days off I will be purchasing some more cold weather gear for sure!

The landlord has started working on putting two more rooms in the basement. By the end of November he plans on having six people in the house at $1000 each. Talk about a cash cow! Ah well, I’m here to work, not to live comfortably.

This too shall pass.

First Blog

Annnnnd we’re live!

Just got back from an adventurous trip to the Denman Craft Fair with Doug and Rachelle . Lots of snow these days and on the way down the big hill on Denman a minivan had bumped uglies with an abandoned hatchback. We stopped and helped them out before heading down the hill to the Fair.

The hill on Denman

Angeleah found some cool things, as did Doug and Rachelle. My score of the day was a very nice birds-eye maple burl bowl for $10 from the nice man. There’s something about wood bowls that call to me.

On the way back we almost got stuck, though thanks to Doug’s years of East Coast winter driving skills we made it out fine. Now it’s time for a quiet evening of laptops, backgammon and fireplace glow. And posting the first blog!
